Our Visit to Butler County

Let me begin by saying this trip was fully compensated for. Every last part of it, but as always, that doesn’t change the way I tell my story. Guys, don’t you know me by now?

Okay, so on to the important stuff–our little weekend getaway to Butler County. I’ll be honest, like most of you, I was like, “Where and what is Butler County?!” The Donut Trail is what first enticed me, but I’ll admit, there was so much more to Butler County than the Donut Trail!

I’m going to give a run down our entire trip with some information about each stop–what we liked, didn’t like and what we would have done differently.

Worth it? Definitley one of those “rainy-day” or “too hot outside” places to visit. I could also see this being a great place to host a birthday party! My kids love it, but they LOVE places like this.

Staybridge Suites Hotel

Favorites: I’m going to make a list for this one because there are SO many!

  1. Space–all the space. We had two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen area. Oh, don’t forget the two full bathrooms, too. It really did remind me of a 2 bedroom apartment. We had more space than I was used to when traveling which made the stress level so much lower. It sounds crazy, but when we got home I told Cliff that the reason we had such a pleasant trip was because of the hotel. The space we had helped us not get sick of each other. BEST. HOTEL. EVER.
  2. Free Social Hour- Okay, I didn’t use this, but I should have snuck off to use it! Three days a week they offer complimentary food and drinks during happy hour!!
  3. Free Hot Breakfast Buffet- There were actually TOO many things to choose from. Cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, waffles, the list goes on. Your belly will be full and ready to start the day.
  4. The Pantry– I only visited about 6 times! Haha! This was perfect for all the small things you may have forgotten or needed asap. I ended up buying hair ties, wipes, Cherry Coke Zero, and Tylenol.

Price Point: $180 a night

Worth it? Yes, 100 times YESSSS! This hotel was amazing and we will find every Staybridge Suites on every trip we take. And, I’m not kidding!

Jungle Jim’s Marketplace

Favorites: The water feature outside, for sure. Well, and the humungous candy area that we spent entirely way too much time in. Ha!

Price Point: This obviously depends on what you’re getting, but I feel like it’s between Giant Eagle and Kroger?

Worth it? Yes! Especially if you are staying at Staybridge Suites. Grab some groceries and keep them in your hotel. But, other than groceries, it’s a really cool place to visit for all it’s unique finds, beer selection, and really cool restrooms!

Bagger Dave’s Burger Tavern

Favorites: All the dipping sauces!

Price Point: Normal night out — Similar to Rusty Bucket pricing.

Worth it? Yes! Pricing was great and it was kid friendly. The outside patio area was perfect for kids.

The Cone

Favorites: So many choices. It reminded me of Dairy Queen, but better. Is that a thing? YES!

Price Point: Probably too cheap–ha!

Worth it? YES! Besides the ice cream, there are really cool rides to ride outside. The kids spent a good hour in this area!

Sunday:

Donut Trail Expedition

Favorites: Um… DONUTS?!

Price Point: Depending on the donut shop, very cheap to a bit pricey. Overall, best donuts I have ever had!

Worth it? UM–Duh! This is one of the main attractions you’ll find in Butler County. Did you know that the slowest time for donut selling is in the summer? Since the Donut Trail emerged, the donut shops in Butler County rarely see a slow time at all. That’s pretty incredible!

Price Point: CHEAP

Worth it? ABSOLUTELY, YES!

Fratelli’s Pizzeria

Favorites: Pizza was really good. It was a very laid back setting, super kid-friendly.

Price Point: Very reasonably priced.

Worth it? I could take it or leave it. There was a fly in my salad, so…..

Monday:

Hotel Breakfast

Favorites: Delaney loved the sausage! I loved that they literally had everything and it wasn’t super crowded. We were able to plop the kids down and enjoy a quick breakfast before starting our day.

Price Point:  NOTTA! The

Worth it?  Anything free is totally worth it!
