"Never Give Up" Meet Joe Woodley "I was involved in a long-distance relationship with a young lady from Columbus. We had known each other for quite some time and I had traveled to Columbus numerous occasions. In April of 1998, she called to inform me that she was pregnant. Having grown up with my father not being involved in my life, I wanted to do what I thought was the right thing, and be there for my child. Frankly, I was afraid and I knew that I was ill-prepared to be a father at the time, but that August I boarded a Greyhound bus which departed Grand Central...

A Story of Grief @jessfpetersen "I am a married mom of three kids - Sadie, Colin and Elise. My husband Brian and I have been married for 11 years, but have known each other since we were kids. I work in media relations for Lifeline of Ohio and consider it a privilege to work in the field of organ, eye and tissue donation. I am also the #1 Button Artist in the state of Ohio...

We’ve actually touched on this before, but figured we could revisit.   Quality time. This past weekend, my husband and I spur of the moment (kind-of), decided to go out of town.  And, it made me extremely anxious to leave the girls for the first time.  Also, extremely anxious to do something spur of the moment.  I’m a “Type A-plan ahead” kinda gal. The last time my husband and I went away together out of state was when I was 5-months-pregnant.  We stayed at a bed and breakfast and played  the board game Life far too many times. And, I complained the entire way up a mountain. We...

"With parenting, we never want our kids to grow up, but it's this inevitable part of the process." The truth of that statement is what helped to inspire the naming of the shop Never Grow Up Boutique.  That and, Andrea's daughter's obsession with Peter Pan Live.   They would watch it on rerun. Her mother-in-law even loves TinkerBell!  It just magically fell into place. Andrea created Never Grow Up Boutique as a store dedicated to providing families with modern, natural, eco-friendly, and chemical free products to guide family life with ease.  They actually just had their grand opening last month!  So, it's safe to say that Andrea has been very busy.  But, how did this all fall into place? Well,...

Catie Mehl is one of the owners of Columbus Birth & Parenting, a business dedicated to providing the utmost care, support, and guidance to families (and each individual within that family) through the journey of parenthood. For the month of November we are focusing on adoption. The process---the feelings---the different perspectives---and, of course, the stories. Columbus Birth & Parenting (CBP) is one of our sponsors for the month, not only because they have a personal connection to the topic of adoption, but also because they're educational experts while providing non-judgmental support and concrete direction. So, maybe you're expecting parents, or maybe you're an adoptee, either way Catie and Leah...

Jason and I were married in May of 2011 a couple of years after each of us had been through bitter divorces. We are a blended family.  I came into the marriage with two boys, Andrew who was 11 and Ayden who was 7. Jason has a son from his previous marriage, Bryce who was also 7 at the time. We were an instant family of 5 all trying to navigate and discover where we fit into our new life and our new home. In October 2011, we found out I was pregnant. We already had 3 boys, so naturally, I was longing for a daughter....

Our first contact with Columbus Birth & Parenting was over Instagram. I messaged them after their big event, No Child Wet Behind. I stalked them for awhile, and thought it was time to reach out like a normal person should (although I tend to do things in a way that isn't so normal.)  The reason I was so intrigued by them in the beginning was the fact that this 5k event and fundraiser they held had an inspirational meaning behind it, and it impacted the city of Columbus in a positive way--just like we hope to do at Columbus Stories. I could tell Leah and Catie cared...

My husband and I had our first child in July 2013. Our son was born five and a half weeks early and thankfully he only spent 4 days in the NICU. He was (and still is) a tough little cookie! When we were discharged from the hospital, he only weighed 4 pounds 3 ounces; I was so nervous due to how small he was. We named our first child George and ironically, he was born on the exact same day as Prince George (and I promise, we had the name George picked out long before we heard it was in the running for the Prince’s...

Aaron and his wife were married several years before even thinking about kids. She worked as a social worker, and he worked for a state pension, but after finding out they were expecting Harrison, the two decided Aaron would stay home. He spent Harrison's first two years doing what he always wanted to do, being home with his son. After Harrison started preschool at 18 months, Aaron used his passion for photography to photograph real estate during his free mornings. When business slowed down in the winter months, Aaron started using his photography skills for another purpose, to shoot pictures of his son. A way to keep occupied turned into something...
