Easterseals is an amazing program. I know because my brother Guthrie was born with cerebral palsy and attended the program.  It was life changing for him.  Well, they're hosting their annual spring Romancing the Grape event on April 29th. Romancing the Grape started back in 2002 (so they've been going at it for 15 years) and the event is by far their largest fundraiser. It raises over $100,000 in support of Easterseals’ programs that make profound and positive differences in people’s lives. Programs such as Early Intervention in which children with special needs ages 1-3 receive early childhood education and pediatric therapies vital to helping them reach...

[caption id="attachment_9342" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Emma[/caption] Hello! My name is Emma and I have had quite the journey. I spent a year in the Dominican Republic and a month in Spain. I have taught English, tutored children in an orphanged and worked with woman coming out of sex slavery. I have experienced great times of depression and joy as I have searched for direction in my life. As time goes on, my desire to share my faith and the love God has for everyone in different and wonderful cultures around the world grows more and more. My next journey is to the Japanese Alps where I will...

Meet Don & Claire [caption id="attachment_9326" align="aligncenter" width="537"] In Loving Memory of Claire Glass[/caption] "Claire was an amazing young lady, and I think it’s easy for a father to say that, but she truly was.  She was blessed with giftedness. She was extremely academically gifted. It was a challenge because when we realized she needed more, nobody believed us.  It wasn’t until the 2nd grade when we saw a psychiatrist, and they did an analysis of her and they basically said, she’s brilliant. When she was in 8th grade she scored a 30 on the ACT, and got a perfect score on the PSAT. You look at...

Jennie is leaving for Thailand soon, and needs our help Columbus friends.   "I decided to go to Thailand, because I wanted to experience a new culture entirely outside of my comfort zone. Currently, I serve in an inner-city Columbus elementary school, and I love it. I really feel like serving underprivileged kids is my calling, and I wanted to experience this kind of service in an entirely new place." ~Jennie Jennie grew up in Columbus, where she spent a good portion of her life believing everyone lived the same kind of blessed life she had. It was her years at The Ohio State University that taught her just how diverse...

The part of my story I am sharing with you is about my experience with being the daughter of a mom who suffered with extreme mental illness and addictions. I remember thinking I could fix her.  And, I thought if I got her Cascade dishwasher soap that promised the dishes would be sparkling clean, she would smile as big as the ladies on the commercials. But, we didn't even have a dishwasher.  I was six years old and just knew I wanted her to be happy. I'm sure you've seen the name a lot this month, Transformation Wellness Center  are our special sponsors for the month on all our "transformation" stories.  The program started with a passion for a medical team doing the right thing for their patients. Dr. David E. Whitt saw an epidemic. He saw his patients slowly acquiring more medical problems like high blood pressure, diabetes, joint pain, weight gain, and many ailments that were affecting their lives and their health. He wanted to provide a lasting solution and not just another temporary Band-Aid. Dr. Whitt is a board certified internist with over 16 years of experience working with patients...

Is it just me or do others put off important things that don't result in quick gratification?  I put off writing this story because writing does't come easy for me; I have difficulty sitting quietly and reflecting. But, I made the commitment to write this story.  I just kept putting it off each day. That's how I handled my weight too.  I kept putting it off.  Honestly I didn't eat that much--I could go until 2 and without eating anything.  I would tell myself their must be something medically wrong, or I'll eat better tomorrow. I remember one time Last April when my 10 year old granddaughter, Chloe, told her...

The moment he was brought home, wrapped in towels, and cold to the core was a moment I will never forget. Zachary was surrounded by neighborhood children that were helping him walk his frozen body home.  I opened the door to see his tear stained face and listening to his sobs, “I am so sorry. I was so stupid. I am so sorry. My curiosity got the best of me. I am so sorry.” It was like the entire sky broke into a million shards of glass and came crashing down around me. My greatest fear was realized. Our sweet child had not heeded 6...
