Food By Bel provides grocery shopping, custom meal plans, meal delivery, and in-home meal prep services. Isabel, or Bel, also provides her custom meals plans worldwide. Her business, based in Westerville, had its start earlier this year and has been rapidly growing since. Serving clients throughout the larger Columbus area and on the web, she has begun to establish herself as one of the competitive meal delivery services in the area. For the past two weeks Isabel has been coming to my house dropping off our groceries. It has been a game changer. It’s the same as Amazon Prime but better, because it’s a thousand times...

PCE Studios (Permanent Cosmetic Effects) opened back in 2003--when there really were only a couple places around doing permanent cosmetics in Columbus.  Erica saw that need, and created PCE Studios.  And, If you remember, they were one of our sponsors for all our breast cancer stories in October. Erica comes from a large family. Her father alone has 18 brother and sisters, and her mother has 13 siblings.  Erica attended DeVry University for her degree in business.  Her family is originally from Puerto Rico. She grew up in Lorain, but before opening up her business, Erica knew there was not a lot of money to be made in Lorain, Ohio.  She wanted to be successful,...

Bubbles: Tea & Juice Company was established back in 2005 by a man named Eric Ling.  The first store was located in the historic North Market, but in 2015 they expanded to Easton Mall.  Then came Polaris and this fall they are opening up in two more locations!  One inside Mesh Fitness (Dublin), and one inside SnapFitness (Old Worthington).  So, they're definitely making a name for themselves around town. | Juice Cleanses | Smoothies | Bubbles teas | Protein Bars | Wheatgrass Shots | Lots of people tend to be curious about the "bubbles" inside these teas.  The bubbles, or tapioca pearls, are actually flavorless gelatin--"they are purely...

Jodi Attar is passionate about food, "my philosophy is--eat good things that taste good."  She's even more passionate about her Gotta Eat Muffins. She grew up in Akron, but moved to Columbus for a pharmaceutical sales job.  Her first masters degree was in Health Administration, but as Jodi said it best, "it just didn't feel right, like Goldilocks and the Three bears, trying all the porridge."  Her husband is a Cardiologist at OSU, so she had the opportunity to stay home for a period of time with her first-born son, Ashton. "After a year, I felt under-stimulated and needed something to do." She got back into the job force working at...

"You could say I have peanut butter in my veins. I love it. I've always loved it." Kimmi has always been one to choose healthy over the sweet treats, even as a kid. Maybe it was the fact that her parents gave her choices, or maybe it was the fact that she helped out with the family business-the family business that produced all natural, one ingredient peanut butter. Now, Kimmi didn't always own and operate The Crazy Richards and Krema Peanut Butter companies. It all started with her dad and his "American Dream." Kimmi's family lived overseas-three years in Korea, two in Singapore, and one in Japan (side...

How did Shelly Lou’s Lids come to be? In hind sight there are a lot of little clues in my history that led up to this. First off, my dad ran his own business for 30 years, so I guess it is in the blood to be an entrepreneur. Also, I spent a lot of time at craft shows with my mom shopping and watching my aunt sell her handmade goods. And, I’ve always been creative. Not in the sense that I can draw or paint, but I’m an idea person. I always have ideas floating around, which for 80% of the time is great. The...

Bexley was lacking a yoga space-can you believe that?—Until the great minds of Amy and Nikki came together. It was almost fate it seems…the way it all happened. We’ll get to that later, but first a little history. Amy had been living in downtown Chicago for 15 years working as a sales executive for a large software company. She was good at her job, and took pride in what she did. Chicago is also where she met her husband, and started her family. Just after her oldest daughter, Hazel, turned 1, Amy found out that baby #2, Vivienne, was on the way. So, she was busy. Really busy. Any...

My husband Jason and I are the owners and creators of Craft Show Collective. Since meeting, we enjoy working on projects together and sharing in our creativity. My background is in sewing and design, while Jason has experience in all things woodworking. Together, we come up with ideas for our shop, as we are endlessly inspired by our sweet baby girl. Jason and I have always had an interest in all things involved in creative entrepreneurship, so when our daughter was born, we decided to get into the market of handmade, high- quality goods for mom and baby. Craft Show Collective grew organically from a home hobby to a...

Zauber Brewing was founded by my family in 2012 as Ohio’s first nano brewery. With the help of investors, we were able to expand to our 20 barrel brewery and beerhall in January of 2014. It’s never easy trying to start a business and we definitely had our fair share of hurdles to overcome. Two of our biggest obstacles were a delayed opening and a frugal start. Breweries with retail spaces involve many different aspects of two very different businesses under one roof. Because of this, there were many regulatory and business aspects that we had to keep in mind while we worked on building our...
