Weekend Getaway: Cincinnati You have kids and a vacation becomes more like a trip. There's no vacationing with kids around, if we're being honest. Because my kiddos are so young, the thought of a long drive or spending a ton of money on a huge trip doesn't seem worth it. Instead, we decided to create memories inside our very own state. If you didn't know, Ohio has some amazing places to visit, one being Cincinnati. A short 90 minute drive is all it takes and it's the perfect two-day getaway. In fact, you could even extend that a day or two to be honest. I've outlined the perfect trip to Cincy...

I was fortunate enough to have an amazing opportunity. I was able to go behind the scenes at Raising Cane's Hamilton location, where their G.M. Gaige McNutt graciously showed me around and gave me the “ins and outs” of this truly amazing company. Everywhere you look and turn there are stories. Stories behind what's hanging on the walls.  Gaige decided to hang framed jerseys of all the schools in his area that they have partnered with in the past by donating their time, food or funds.  And the stories are meaningful. Intentional. And full of rich tradition. Take this hard hat here. After working at Raising Cane’s...

Who is looking for something FUN to do locally in Columbus this October? You've probably already been to Lynd's Fruit Farm at least three times.  Ready for something new? How about the Trail of Tormented Terror! I'm probably the worst person to take to a haunted anything. Or, the best person. I'm a scaredy-cat and I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm afraid of most Halloween related things. Spiders. Skeletons. Chain Saws. Blood. The dead. People chasing you.  All those things, and more. Let me put it this way--Elizabeth and I walked the "Trail of Tormented Terror" and I'm not kidding, I pissed my pants.  That happened. Wanna check out...

"When I was 17 I remember sitting at my Grandfathers oak table tracing the knots in the wood a thousand times as if I were Pac-man trying to find my exit out.  As I flipped through Polaroid pictures laying on the table my Grandfather said to me in a stern voice---don’t mix those pictures up-they tell a story, from beginning to end. My knack for knowing strangers, people, community and their stories came long before I.  Like a family cornbread recipe it was handed down to me from my Grandfather to my Mother, and then I. I intend to also give it away someday. I...

Part 1: The Brothers @buckeyevodka📷 Buckeye Vodka is an intentional well-thought-out product that was designed, developed, and founded by 4 brothers (well almost)---Brothers Jim & Chris Finke, Brother-in-law Tom Rambasek, and good friend and CFO Marty Clarke founded Crystal Spirits, LLC and developed the Buckeye Vodka brand. 🍁 I'm sure it's not hard to put together that they're Ohioans--I mean come on, they named their vodka "Buckeye".. for a reason. The Finke’s are fourth generation Ohioans from Dayton. Tom was raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, and all four were educated at different Ohio universities. 🍁 The distillery is located in Dayton where each bottle of vodka is hand-crafted by...

Easterseals is an amazing program. I know because my brother Guthrie was born with cerebral palsy and attended the program.  It was life changing for him.  Well, they're hosting their annual spring Romancing the Grape event on April 29th. Romancing the Grape started back in 2002 (so they've been going at it for 15 years) and the event is by far their largest fundraiser. It raises over $100,000 in support of Easterseals’ programs that make profound and positive differences in people’s lives. Programs such as Early Intervention in which children with special needs ages 1-3 receive early childhood education and pediatric therapies vital to helping them reach...

[caption id="attachment_9342" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Emma[/caption] Hello! My name is Emma and I have had quite the journey. I spent a year in the Dominican Republic and a month in Spain. I have taught English, tutored children in an orphanged and worked with woman coming out of sex slavery. I have experienced great times of depression and joy as I have searched for direction in my life. As time goes on, my desire to share my faith and the love God has for everyone in different and wonderful cultures around the world grows more and more. My next journey is to the Japanese Alps where I will...

Jennie is leaving for Thailand soon, and needs our help Columbus friends.   "I decided to go to Thailand, because I wanted to experience a new culture entirely outside of my comfort zone. Currently, I serve in an inner-city Columbus elementary school, and I love it. I really feel like serving underprivileged kids is my calling, and I wanted to experience this kind of service in an entirely new place." ~Jennie Jennie grew up in Columbus, where she spent a good portion of her life believing everyone lived the same kind of blessed life she had. It was her years at The Ohio State University that taught her just how diverse...

Dear Columbus, Let me start off by just saying HI and welcome to my unpredictable life.  In 1996 I entered this place called Earth. I was born and raised in the beautiful 614.  I grew up going to Upper Arlington schools. My goal in High School was to graduate and set my life towards being a Hairstylist, or at least something in the beauty industry. Little did I know that’s not what was planned for me. Half way through cosmetology school my family and I had a serious sit down talk about our future goals. A few months down the road I got the opportunity of a lifetime to go live...
