A story of Fighting Blindness "When I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at age 14, I was told by my retina specialist that I wouldn’t have trouble with vision until I was “much, much older.” Apparently, late 20’s was “older.” At 28 years old, I started noticing that I couldn’t see my 6-month-old daughter’s face very well. If I stared at her eyes, I couldn’t see her nose, let alone the rest of her body. I then started realizing that if I looked at my mom on the couch, I couldn’t see my dad sitting directly next to her. I was missing handshakes, curbs, and wet...

"It was Friday the 13th of 2002, and the first anniversary of 9/11 was coming up, and I just kept having this dreaded feeling that Friday the 13th was going to be a really bad day. I had no idea why, so I went on with my day.  Lindsay came home from school and decided she was going to go work out with her best friend.   About an hour later after she left, the phone rang, and it was her best friend Morgan. She said, “Kathy, Lindsay fainted. You need to get over here right away.” She fainted at the gym on the treadmill.  So, at...

Jennie is leaving for Thailand soon, and needs our help Columbus friends.   "I decided to go to Thailand, because I wanted to experience a new culture entirely outside of my comfort zone. It was her years at The Ohio State University that taught her just how diverse...

Good Deed Rags is definitely one of Columbus' hero organizations.  Below you will find a Q&A with them, where you'll learn what they do, why they do it, and the two seminal events that kickstarted the whole thing.   And, you can read my notes at the very end as to why they are some of Columbus' true heroes (and it's not because they giveback to the community--although that's amazing). How did Good Deed Rags come to fruition?       "Gosh, I could spend forever on this one. So we spent much of the past 15 years working in the clothing business for some of the major...

Throughout her 15 years in youth ministry, Pam Lozano has heard countless stories from teen girls about their lives. Some of these teen girls came from amazing homes and supportive families, yet still faced normal teenage challenges of insecurity and self-image issues. While others faced more difficult situations and did not have support from home. Instead, they had parents who were too busy, too distracted, or unable to give their kids the time and attention needed.  Stories surfaced of girls who had faced sexual abuse from relatives, struggled with eating disorders, or engaged in self-harm through cutting. But, what they all seemed to have in common---...

Bubbles: Tea & Juice Company was established back in 2005 by a man named Eric Ling.  The first store was located in the historic North Market, but in 2015 they expanded to Easton Mall.  Then came Polaris and this fall they are opening up in two more locations!  One inside Mesh Fitness (Dublin), and one inside SnapFitness (Old Worthington).  So, they're definitely making a name for themselves around town. | Juice Cleanses | Smoothies | Bubbles teas | Protein Bars | Wheatgrass Shots | Lots of people tend to be curious about the "bubbles" inside these teas.  The bubbles, or tapioca pearls, are actually flavorless gelatin--"they are purely...
